Minnesota Pork keeping ASF front and center

Groups like the Minnesota Pork Producers are making sure pig farmers are aware of foreign animal disease threats.

Association COO Jill Resler says the industry must do everything it can to prevent African swine fever from entering the U.S.

“Our number one priority continues to be keeping foreign animal diseases out of our country. However, we recognize that preparedness efforts are also extremely important.”

To that end, Minnesota Pork is promoting the Secure Pork Supply plan along with other states that raise hogs.

“The Secure Pork Supply is really a farmer’s best chance at business continuity in the event of a foreign animal disease in our country.”

She tells Brownfield Minnesota Pork is also participating in preparedness exercises hosted by USDA and the Minnesota Department of Ag.
