APRIL 19: Jim Boswell, BS,MBA, will present “Renaissance in Retirement” at Eastern New Mexico University-Ruidoso.  Breakfast is at 9 a.m. and the talk is at 10 a.m. in Room 102 at the campus, 709 Mechem Drive. Boswell will discuss a “universal process and tool set” to help develop individual self and to achieve dreams.

APRIL 19: Glow in the Dark Disc Golf Tournament at 7 p.m., April 19, at the Grindstone Disc Golf Course, 509 Resort Drive, Ruidoso. Two full rounds “front nine,” with an entrance fee of $20. Tournament will begin about 8 p.m.. Register online at www.Quickscores.com/Ruidoso. Included are 1 Z-Glow, Buzzz or Crank Z, Glow Sticks and water. APRIL 20: The annual Village of Ruidoso Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m., April 20 at Cedar Creek Campground. Hunt will be divided into four age groups, but the search is fast and frantic. Eggs are found quickly and collected. The Easter Bunny and Smokey Bear will make a special appearances.

APRIL 20: A Bunny 5K Walk-Run is set for 7 a.m., April 20, at Cedar Creek off Mechem Drive in Ruidoso.

APRIL 24: Eastern New Mexico University-Ruidoso Student Art Show sale with an artists reception from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., April 26. Exhibit to run through May 3. The university is at 709 Mechem Drive, Ruidoso.

APRIL 24: Despite the considerable amount of water used for outdoor watering, many turfgrass irrigation systems are inefficient. More than half of the water used may not reach the intended area and is wasted. New Mexico State University’s Extension Service will offer workshops on how to determine irrigation requirements and how to irrigate efficiently using information from an irrigation audit. The workshops will be taught by Dr. Bernd Leinauer, NMSU’s turfgrass Extension specialist. The first workshop is entitled ‘Turfgrass Irrigation Seminar’ and will cover the basics of general turfgrass irrigation. from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., April 24, at the Ruidoso Village Hall Council Chambers, 313 Cree Meadows. The workshop is offered free of charge but please register with the Lincoln County Extension Office at 575-648-2311.

APRIL 25: Faith Community Health Ministry invites the public to our spring education luncheon, noon to 1 p.m., April 25, at Fellowship Hall, Community United Methodist Church, 220 Junction Road, Ruidoso. General Surgery by Dr. Ilhan Yildiz, General Surgeon, Lincoln County Medical Center. A light lunch will be served.

APRIL 26: At noon Friday, April 26, the Roswell Jazz Festival will present a free concert in Reischman Park, Roswell, in honor of Jazz Appreciation Month. The performers will be a local band, Hot Club on the Pecos.

APRIL 27: Reduced cost rabies clinics are scheduled throughout the county. Mountain View Animal Clinic staff will be at the White Mountain Fire Station from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; the Franklin Veterinary Clinic staff will be at the Ruidoso Downs Fire Station from 10 a.m. to noon and at the Hondo Fire Station from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; the Ruidoso Animal Clinic staff will be at the Ruidoso Fire Station, next to swimming pool from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

APRIL 27:  “Jump Jive & Wail” starring The Jive Aces  at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 27. The United Kingdom’s number one vintage rock, jive and swing band is a sextet on vocals, trumpet, ukulele, tenor sax, clarinet, fiddle, drums, piano, trombone, washboard, blues harp, and double bass. Semi-finalists in TV’s “Britain’s Got Talent,” the band is renowned for infectious arrangements of 40s and 50s classics: “That Old Black Magic,” “All About That Bing,” “Pack Up Your Troubles,” and more. Special guest vocalist Gina Haley, daughter of legendary rock ‘n’ roller Bill Haley, adds extra sparkle to a number of tunes.  A homestyle Angus beef meatloaf buffet for $20 will be served at 5 p.m.

APRIL 28: The Great American Cleanup is set for April 28, beginning at Wingfield Park. Registration begins at noon. Cleanup from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Gloves and trash bags provided. Shirts, food and prizes for volunteers. Youth-service group fundraising opportunities available. Roll-off containers available, but no tires, batteries, paint, household garbage or commercial construction. MAY 3: Dali Ballet Company presents its annual spring recital “Elements of Dance” at 7 p.m., Friday, May 3, and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., May 4, at the Ruidoso Schools Performing Arts Center, 125 Warrior Drive. Tickets are $10 per person. Advance ticket sales begin April 8, at Dali Ballet Company, 143 El Paso Road, 575-257-3753. Tickets also can be purchased at the door prior to each performance. "Elements of Dance" involves all of the more than 65 students from Dali Ballet Company ranging in age from 3 to 18, said Deborah Rogers, Artistic Director of Dali Ballet Company. 

MAY 5: - ENMU-Ruidoso Community Choir's “Sing Me a Love Song” concert will be Sunday, 3 PM at the First Christian Church, 1211 Hull Road, Ruidoso. From Greensleeves to Groban, from Brahms to Broadway to The Beatles, come enjoy a concert all about LOVE! Selections Include: “Beatles Medley,” “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “You Raise Me Up,” “As Time Goes By,” “A Red, Red Rose,” “Anything You Can Do” and more. MAY 6:  Alpine Village Sanitation District will hold its regular monthly meeting at 4 p.m., May 6, at 114 Alpine Meadows Trail. The meeting is to conduct regular business for the District, such as paying bills and reporting on the operations of the water system. Additionally, there may be discussion regarding the drilling of a new well and committees to address the Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan and Capacity Assessment.  All residents of the District are welcome to attend. Agendas are available at least 24 hours prior to meeting time.  All regular monthly meetings normally are held at 4 p.m., the first Monday of the month.

JULY 30: The 3rd Annual SCM Children and Youth Summit, July 30, at the Inn of the Mountain Gods. Continental Breakfast and Buffet Lunch provided. Be a presenter, tell about what great things you are doing.  Be a Volunteer, help make the Summit an experience to remember.
