Challenging March for Minnesota

A cold start to March in Minnesota gave way to more seasonal temperatures, but the month was a struggle for many producers. The USDA says that while most of the state still has snow cover, some melting was reported, leading to standing water in some fields and localized flooding.

Calving conditions ranged from good to very poor, depending on the area, and damage to barns and other structures has been reported.

The USDA’s weekly national crop progress and condition reports resume April 1st.
