USDA’s Northey to tour IA and MO flooding

The top official overseeing USDA’s Farm Service Agency, Risk Management Agency and NRCS will tour flood damages in northwest Missouri and southwest Iowa this Thursday.

Bill Northey, Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation, will be joined by Missouri Farm Bureau president Blake Hurst and other officials, as they view damages and meet with farmers.

Hurst told farmers at KMMO Ag Day in Marshall, Missouri last week the flooding is worse than 2011, “We are in a world of hurt along the Missouri and the bad news is, of course, it’s headed your way.”

Hurst says the flooding happening now and still to come is, “historic and it’s a tragedy.”

Brownfield will join Undersecretary Northey and report from the tours.
