China trade talks resume this week

U.S. trade negotiators are due later this week in Beijing to continue talks aimed at ending the trade war with China. The dispute revolves around tariffs that have slowed business between the U.S. and one of its biggest ag product customers.

Agri-Pulse reports that U.S. Trade Representative Bob Lighthizer and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin will be in China Thursday to continue talks. Additional discussions with a high-ranking Chinese delegation will be in Washington a week from Wednesday. The Chinese vice premier is expected to lead Chinese negotiators during that round.

China continues to make purchases despite the tariffs, the latest being 300,000 tons of corn late last week.
