Collapsed lung, broken ribs suffered in York domestic attack, police say

York City police are looking for a man who allegedly caused several serious injuries to a woman in a domestic attack last week in York, according to an arrest warrant.

Ronald Alan Ruhl, 55, of the 400 block of Prospect St., York is being sought on a charge of aggravated assault. As of Sunday morning, he had not been arrested.

At 1 a.m. on March 20, York City Police responded to the home Ruhl and victim Anne M. Waldell share for a report of an assault.

Waldell told them she was sitting on a sofa when Ruhl came downstairs and without warning, started to punch her with a closed fist to the head, face, chest and mid-section, the warrant states.

During the alleged attack, Ruhl called Waldell a "whore" and took an engagement ring from her and walked out of the house, according to the warrant.

Police news

Waldell lost consciousness during the attack and called police when she regained it. She was then taken to York Hospital for treatment, the warrant states.

Ruhl "beat the victim so badly," he broke her right orbital bone, fractured her ribs and collapsed one of her lungs, according to the warrant.

York Hospital said they had no information on a patient with Waldell's name on Sunday.
