Can't or won't do metal clay work?  Never fear. Polymer clay to the rescue. Ludmila Bakulina is an amazing polymer clay artist who demonstrates how you can use this medium to achieve a metallic look.

Her faux silver polymer clay tutorial features a beautiful Larimar gemstone focal.

Her attention to detail is admirable.  I really love how she created the bail from a textured diamond shaped piece.  As with great artisans, the back is as well finished as the front - she added another textured diamond with initials.

Ludmila uses a thin strip of polymer clay as a bezel.  The piece is baked twice.  Interestingly, she starts from a cold oven both times. It does make sense as the oven door is not opened at all. Each time you open that door, the temperature drops!  That is why many polymer clay jewelry designers bake for an hour rather than the typical 30 minutes.
