Field conditions in Wyffels territory quite variable

Field conditions vary across the Midwest.

Wyffels Hybrids agronomist Brent Tharp says there’s quite a variance in states they cover like Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota.

“You get down into southern Illinois, it’s still wet down there but guys are starting to think about getting into the fields. Then you get up into the northern part of our area (and) there’s still snow on the ground in a lot of places up there.”

He tells Brownfield spring fieldwork will be delayed in most areas.

“In general, our footprint I’d describe as wet. And the poor guys over there in the Missouri River Valley, and all river valleys, bottom ground, it’s a bad situation.”

Tharp says most of the places that are wet were already saturated from frequent rains in the fall.
