Nebraska Farm Bureau disaster relief fund tops $350 thousand

Nebraska Farm Bureau president Steven Nelson says the organization’s disaster relief fund has raised more than 350-thousand dollars over the past week.

“We had a major donation from Farm Credit Services,” Nelson says. “We’ve had a lot of very nice donations from different companies around the state and nation—and then hundreds and hundreds of individual donations.”

Nelson says the money is being used to provide emergency aid to Nebraska farmers, ranchers and rural communities affected by recent storms and flooding.

“We’ve worked early with efforts to get drinking water into certain areas that did not have drinking water. We’ve also been working to get a lot of livestock feed into the area—both hay and some other needs for livestock—and then medications for livestock as well.”

Nelson says one hundred percent of the donations will be distributed to those in need.
