Minnesota farmer flexible on planting intentions this spring

A south-central Minnesota farmer is flexible with his planting intentions.

Lawrence Sukalski farms in Martin County and says he’s watching the markets for direction.

“To try and make as much profit per-acre as we can, either corn or soybeans. And with the very large soybean carryout, that’s very worrisome and troublesome.”

He says current prices are below profitable levels, but Sukalski is hopeful a trade deal with China will strengthen the market.

USDA is forecasting an increase in corn acres and a reduction in soybeans this year.
