China ag buys could triple
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue says China could as much as triple purchases of U.S. agriculture products as part of a trade deal between the two countries.
The secretary told Bloomberg that compared to China’s 2017 buying, a trade resolution could lead to a doubling or tripling in the next two to five years.
That would dovetail with a proposal by Beijing to buy an additional $30 billion a year of American agricultural products. Chief agriculture negotiator Gregg Doud said earlier China’s U.S. agriculture imports were about $20 billion a year before the trade war.
