Ethanol stocks notch new all-time high

U.S. ethanol supplies surged to a new record high last week.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says stocks jumped 681,000 barrels to 24.412 million, passing the previous all-time high set a little more than a year ago.

The industry continues to be effected by slow blend demand, high levels of small refinery waivers, and uncertainties during the EPA’s comment period on year-round E15 use.

Production was down 1,000 barrels on the week at an average of 1.004 million barrels a day.

The USDA expects more than 5.55 billion bushels of corn to be used for ethanol use this marketing year, with an updated estimate scheduled for April 9th.
