Ag groups and legislators fellowship at Illinois Ag Legislative Day

Governor Pritzker welcomes representatives from multiple Illinois ag groups to the breakfast.

Governor J.B. Pritzker, Director of Agriculture John Sullivan, and IL FFA President Sophia Horton were among the speakers at Tuesday morning’s ag legislative breakfast.

Illinois Farm Bureau President Richard Guebert tells Brownfield he has attended the event for more than 15 years.

“This provides us an opportunity for our membership to meet their legislators here in Springfield, talk about the bills that are before them and encourage them either to support or not support bills that would help Illinois agriculture or have a detriment against Illinois agriculture.”

Representative Patrick Windhorst says he was most excited to see ag group representatives and FFA members flood the capitol the remainder of the day visiting with legislators and delivering baskets of IL ag commodities.

“I will be meeting with at least four groups today and probably more as the day goes on. So, for me to get input from them and also to be able to talk to them and hear what their issues are is very important.”

This was the 49th year for the Illinois Ag Legislative Day event held at the Illinois Capitol Building in Springfield.
