You can still get flights to Hartford and San Jose to see Wisconsin teams play in the NCAA Tournament, but last minute tickets will be expensive.

March Madness is upon us, and this year Wisconsin has two teams to cheer for after a dry spell in the NCAA Tournament in 2018. Hopefully, you saved money last year to splurge this year.

If you haven't planned the trip yet, it will cost you.

Marquette University plays Murray State University Thursday in Hartford, Conn., and the University of Wisconsin-Madison plays the University of Oregon Friday in San Jose, Calif. Both Wisconsin teams are No. 5 seeds.

Game tickets could be your cheapest cost.

Tickets are no longer available for the Marquette game through the XL Center, but tickets are available through secondhand ticket sellers. StubHub's cheapest seats available are listed at $75, and could cost up to $750 for lower-level seats.

Tickets on Ticketmaster for the Wisconsin game start at $50 and cost up to $305 for a seat in the 13th row, which were the website's best available seats four days before the big game.

Traveling there is the biggest cost.

Last-minute flights to both locations cost more than $700. It will cost about $715 to arrive in Hartford the day before Marquette plays, and about $770 to fly into San Jose on Thursday.

If you have the time, the cheapest mode of travel would be by car, according to Nick Jarmusz, AAA director of public affairs.

He said the 30-hour round trip to the XL Center in Hartford would cost about $400.

There are tolls along the way in Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania. All are part of the EZ-Pass system, so if you have an Illinois I-Pass, it would be compatible.

Driving to San Jose is a 60-hour round trip and would cost $560. Drivers would have to travel on I-80 through Iowa and Nebraska where there is historic flooding.

You probably have to leave Wednesday to drive to San Jose, so why not fly that day? Flight prices drop to around $530 two days before the game.

Hotels won't be too bad.

For a cheap hotel, stay in the Flamingo Motel in San Jose at $105 a night, or you could spend up to $404 to stay in the four-star Hotel De Anza.

The cheapest stay in Hartford with availability near the XL Center is The Capitol Hotel at $134 per night. A more expensive stay in Homewood Suites by Hilton costs $411 per night.
