Beef Industry Sustainability Framework being finalized

The U.S. Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (USRSB) is putting the final touches on its Beef Sustainability Framework.

According to USRSB chair Kim Stackhouse-Lawson, the framework highlights key areas important to the sustainability of beef. It also provides resources each segment of the beef value-chain can use to improve sustainability.

Stackhouse-Lawson, who is director of sustainability for JBS USA, says sustainability is quickly moving up the list of beef demand drivers. “It seems like the requests just continue to increase. It’s becoming an expectation of our customers. It’s becoming very, very real,” says Stackhouse-Lawson.

The final beef sustainability framework report will be revealed this May in Fresno, California during the USRSB General Assembly meeting.

Stackhouse-Lawson spoke with Brownfield at the recent National Farmers convention in Iowa.
