USDA launches website geared towards youth

The USDA has launched a new website geared towards youth interested in agriculture.

Youth Programs Coordinator Torey Powell says the website showcases the variety of opportunities each USDA sector offers for young people and puts that information all in the same location.

“We have so many great programs, but we didn’t have a place for youth to go to that featured everything together. So, youth that wanted to do an ag summer program had to go to APHIS website or if they wanted to do a forest service program, they had to got to the forest service website.”

He says the website is aimed at reaching youth, educators and youth organizations, regardless of their agriculture background, with the goal of getting a younger population involved in the industry.

It houses information about USDA programs, loans, internships and careers.
