Clock ticking for E15 this summer

Anxiety about the E15 rule-making being finished in time for this summer driving season is escalating.

American Coalition for Ethanol CEO Brian Jennings says he expects the Trump Administration to follow through on its promise.

“Every day that passes by that the proposed rule is not public for comment from stakeholders is another day closer to not putting us in a position to have E15 available year-round.”

There have been conflicting reports on the progress of the rulemaking.

Jennings tells Brownfield having the rule at the Office of Management and Budget for interagency review is a positive step.

“But it’s also March, and we were told by EPA they would have this rule out sometime in February. We’re under 90 days between now and June 1st, and this is a complicated rule-making.”

Jennings says a big reason why it’s complicated is because EPA is adamant about adding RIN reform to the year-round E15 rule.
