Hold on to your hats! High winds still causing power outages across central Pennsylvania

High winds continue to rip through central Pennsylvania Monday leaving thousands of people still without power. 

Met-Ed is reporting that over 88,000 customers are affected by outages Monday morning. That round-up includes 926 in Franklin County, 404 in Lebanon County, and 683 in York County. 

At least 15,000 PPL customers are without power, as well. There are 114 reports in Lebanon and 54 in York. 

A high wind warning is in effect until 1 p.m. Monday, so hang onto your hats, central Pennsylvania. 

Gusts could reach up to 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service State College. 

The National Weather Service recorded some of the highest winds in the area within 24 hours: 

  • Harrisburg International Airport, 52 mph at 11:10 p.m. Sunday
  • Muir Airfield in Lebanon County, 55 mph at 5:50 p.m. Sunday
  • WNW Rouzerville in Franklin County, 53 mph at 12:03 a.m. Monday

The highest recorded wind was 62 mph near Altoona airport. 

Be mindful that winds this strong can knock down trees and can cause damage to structures.
