Pedestrian dies after walking into path of tractor-trailer on I-81 in Chambersburg

A pedestrian was killed early Friday after walking into a tractor-trailer that was traveling on Interstate 81 in Guilford Township. 

A female entered the southbound lanes from the west in the area of the 15.5 mile marker, just south of the U.S. 30 exit, at about 1 a.m. and struck a tractor-trailer on the passenger side of the cab, according to Pennsylvania State Police. 

The pedestrian died at the scene. The police report did not identify her. 

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Miami Jade, 27, of Brooklyn, Pa., was found to be under the influence of alcohol, police said. 

Chambersburg EMS, Waynesboro ALS, Station 4 fire and rescue and fire police, the Franklnin County Coroner's Office and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.

  • Yefreey Decarolis, 30, is wanted for theft by deception and identify theft after he allegedly used someone else's identification to open a cell phone account and obtained five cell phones valued at more than $4,000, according to Chambersburg Police.   • Thanh Ly, Shippensburg, received citations for reckless driving, accidental damage to an unattended vehicle or property, and failure to notify police after he allegedly struck a parked car, causing significant damage to the back end, Sunday night in the 100 block of East King Street, according to Shippensburg Police. Police sought the public's help in finding a black Range Rover with heavy front-end damage, and found the vehicle the next day in Ly's driveway on Hollar Avenue. Ly said he did not stop because he was "scared," police said. 
  • Tyfani Thomas was charged with summary harassment and criminal mischief after she allegedly injured a man who was trying to remove her from his apartment on South Antrim Way, Greencastle Police said.
