NJ Senate Passes Presidential Tax Returns Bill

On February 21st, the New Jersey Senate passed S119 - President/Vice President Disclose Federal Income Tax Returns to Appear on Ballot.

Sponsors: Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-37th District), Sen. Shirley Turner (D-15th District), Sen. Linda Greenstein (D-14th District), and Rep. Troy Singleton (D-7th District).

Co-Sponsors: Sen. Brian Stack (D-33rd District) and Sen. Fred Madden (D-4th District)

This Bill requires Candidates for President and Vice-President of U.S. to Disclose Federal Income Tax Returns, for the Five most Recent Taxable years, to Appear on Ballot. Prohibits Electoral College Electors from Voting for Candidates who Fail to File Income Tax Returns.

The Vote in the Senate was 24-11.

The House Bill is A1230 - Introduced and Referred to Assembly State and Local Government Committee.
