Ohio FFA members celebrate National FFA Week

Ohio FFA State President Kolesen McCoy says National FFA Week is an opportunity to connect with the nearly 26,000 FFA members across the state.

“Our goal is to just help better connect them between the foundation, the association, the state officers and the state staff,” he says. “So that’s really our goal for this week and getting their perspective on why they started in FFA and why they continue.”

He tells Brownfield it also provides time to reflect on the impact FFA has had on his life.

“I’ve gained so much in public speaking skills and I was interested engineering before FFA,” he says. “I never wanted to pursue agriculture and I love the industry now. So, not only has it shaped who I am personally, but also it’s given me a route for my professional life.”

McCoy is planning to major in agricultural business at Ohio State University.

Another part of FFA Week was fundraising. McCoy says Ohio FFA members raised more than $20,000 during Give FFA Day thanks to a matching donation by Sunrise Cooperative.
