Report: China offers again to increase ag purchases

Trade talks between top U.S. and Chinese officials continue today in Washington.

According to various media reports, the two countries have drafted six “memorandums of understanding” on key structural issues of the trade dispute. Agriculture is reportedly one of those and Bloomberg News reports today that China is proposing to buy an additional 30 billion dollars of U.S. ag products a year, as part of the negotiations. However, some analysts are questioning that figure, given that it would be far above the levels of past Chinese purchases from the U.S.
