Sombke thanks Gov. Noem for E30 support

South Dakota Farmers Union members were in Pierre Tuesday advocating for agriculture issues. Farmers Union President Doug Sombke met with Governor Kristi Noem expressing appreciation for the governor’s support of E30 ethanol blend fuel.

“Also [we can] grind through this corn helping the local farmer get a better price and cut down on dependence on foreign oil,” said Sombke, during an interview with Brownfield Ag News following his meeting with the governor.

The Conde, South Dakota farmer says most of the bunkers of corn from last fall’s harvest haven’t moved.

“The biggest thing is still just no price,” said Sombke. “There just isn’t a price to be had to make a profit.”

Among other issues, Sombke says the 65 people attending the South Dakota Farmers Union Legislative Day also talked to state lawmakers about supporting rural elder care facilities.
