Callahan appointed new Director of Illinois Department of Natural Resources

Former Illinois ag department rural development director Colleen Callahan has been appointed Director of the Illinois department of Natural Resources.

Callahan tells Brownfield she is honored to be asked to serve on the administration.

“But, it doesn’t end there. I am also eager to work with the dedicated DNR career staff to learn from them and collaborate on ways to help meet the needs of enhancing Illinois’ natural resources.”

Callahan was a farm broadcaster for the Peoria, Illinois area for more than 30 years and co-chaired Governor Pritzker’s ag transitions committee. She says she looks forward to using the connections made through those experiences to collaborate on natural resource issues.

“There is strength in numbers and when we work together, we can do something that is much, much stronger and more impactful.”

Governor Pritzker announced her leadership on Tuesday. She assumes the new role on March 1st.
