Perdue to host ag leaders from Canada and Mexico

U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue will host his counterparts from Canada and Mexico during the Ag Outlook Forum later this week.

He calls both countries great customers of U.S. ag products.

“And we’ve enhanced the relationship we had with them through NAFTA, and I think they can take comfort in that.”

Perdue says he looks forward to discussing the U.S. Mexico Canada Agreement with the Canadian minister of agriculture and Mexican secretary of agriculture on Thursday.

“As I indicated, we’re working to remove the steel and aluminum tariffs so we can have totally free, tariff-free trade relationships there for the pork industry, poultry industry, cheese, dairy in that effort.”

Perdue says once the USMCA is ratified, it will secure two important markets for the foreseeable future.
