Wisconsin FFA chapters use FFA Week to help an advisor

FFA chapters from northwestern Wisconsin are using National FFA Week to help one of their own.  When Bloomer High School advisor DeWayne Fossum lost his home to fire last week, the schools in Wisconsin Section One started a challenge to raise money to help the family.

Bloomer agriculture educator Darren Swartz tells Brownfield FFA Advisor Arlaina Meyer from Cumberland got the effort started. “She just wanted to know if we wanted to get the whole section involved and I told her it would be a great idea, and so I know she had contacted all of the FFA advisors in our section.”

Fossum is also a cancer survivor who is still recovering from surgery.  Swartz the FFA Week effort is going well. “Our community has been involved pretty heavily so it’s been really, really positive with a lot of support.”

Donations to the Fossum Benefit Account are being accepted at: Security Financial Bank, 1401 Main Street, Bloomer, WI 54724.
