A winter storm warning is in effect for portions of central Pennsylvania throughout the day Wednesday and into the night.

This won't be a storm with just snow, though. We're in for a mix that includes sleet and rain, as well.

The warning is in effect from 6 a.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service says.

Meanwhile, PennDOT has set speed and vehicle restrictions statewide for Wednesday.

According to meteorologist Bill Gartner with the National Weather Service in State College, snow will fall by 7 a.m. until about noon. By midday and late afternoon, there will be a transition to sleet and freezing rain.

You'll be able to follow along with live York County 911 incidents here.

Gartner said roads are going to be a mess in the afternoon and evening for commuters due to that shift from snow to sleet.

A mix will continue throughout Wednesday and overnight. There's a slight chance of rain Thursday before 1 p.m.

Expect a high of 33 Wednesday with a low of 31.

Meteorologists are predicting between 4 and 6 inches of snow for most of the southern region of central Pennsylvania, with potential for 6 to 8 inches on the western end, such as the Chambersburg area.
