Members of the 87th Pennsylvania reenactors group portray period Union soldiers.

The 87th Pennsylvania was the largest regiment from York County in the Civil War and arguably the most famous. It saw service at the Second Battle of Winchester in 1863 and the battle of Monocacy in 1864, as well as several others. Most of the men were from York County, with a handful of companies raised in Adams County.

A living history group in south-central PA represents Company C of the 87th. Recently, the group has released its 2019 schedule of events. Most of these living history events are open to the public.
