Man reported shot in Oxnard; authorities searching for suspect

A man was shot Sunday evening in southeast Oxnard, with authorities searching the area for suspects.

The shooting was reported at 6:14 p.m. in the 3100 block of Merced Place, according to the Oxnard Police Department. The block is located south of Channel Islands Boulevard, in the Diamond Bar neighborhood, near agricultural operations on the east side of Rice Avenue.

The injured man, described as in his 40s, was shot in the arm and taken to Ventura County Medical Center, according to police officials. A single round apparently struck him, authorities said. He was described as talkative and alert.

The victim was exiting his vehicle when unknown suspects began firing at him, police said. 

Police officers were actively working the scene Sunday night, canvassing the neighborhood in search of additional information, officials said.
