Gun, gang members allegedly found after alley drinking call in south Oxnard

OXNARD - A report of people drinking in a south Oxnard alley on Friday night led to the arrest of two documented gang members and the seizure of a loaded handgun, authorities said.

At about 8:50 p.m., Oxnard Police Department officers responded to the south alley in the 300 block of Cuesta Del Mar Drive regarding people drinking and causing a disturbance, authorities said. The block is located north of Hueneme Road and west of Saviers Road in the Southwinds neighborhood at the southern city limit.

Arriving officers said they saw people loitering around a parked vehicle. Multiple people fled as police arrived, according to the department.

One man, identified as 21-year-old Ramon Aguilar, an Oxnard resident on probation for gun and drug offenses, was sitting inside the parked car, authorities said. When officers searched the vehicle, they allegedly found a loaded 9 mm handgun under Aguilar’s seat. He was arrested on suspicion of felony firearms violations and remained in Ventura County jail Saturday with bail set at $75,000. Aguilar is a documented gang member, authorities said.

Another 21-year-old Oxnard man and documented gang member was arrested on suspicion of a misdemeanor offense after initially fleeing from officers, authorities said.
