Primanti's proposal on Valentine's Day only part of couple's rekindled puppy love story

When Brianne Strayer stepped into Primanti Bros. for the first time on Valentine's Day, she only intended to enjoy a lunch with her boyfriend, Austin Wright.

Instead, the 22-year-old was served a life-changing moment when Wright, 21, proposed to her at the restaurant in York Township.

"It was sort of a surprise. I kind of knew it was coming...I didn't know it was happening then," Strayer said.

Austin and Brianne may have marked their engagement at Primanti Bros., but their relationship story dates back to when they were only 12 years old.

People get engaged at restaurants all of the time, but it's worth noting that this young Spring Grove couple will be getting an all-expense paid wedding through Primanti Bros.

It's all thanks to the restaurant's "Love at First Bite" promotion that offered a free wedding to guests who got engaged at one of their locations on Valentine's Day.

In addition to Wright and Strayer, another couple also got engaged at the York Township location.

The special day will be a group wedding, and according to the restaurant website, "the wedding ceremony and reception will be held in summer 2019 at Primanti Bros. original location in Pittsburgh's Strip District Neighborhood, with the exact date to be determined based upon availability."

"It's free. That's how I see it," Strayer said.

On Valentine's Day, people are more prone to gush about the forms of love they cherish or once had. The day after the heart-filled holiday, Strayer opened up to the York Daily Record about her relationship with Wright, which dates back to when they were preteens.

Strayer and Wright met at Skateland in Hanover when they were 12 years old. You could call it puppy love, but it only lasted a week, according to Strayer.

After the break-up, Strayer and Wright didn't see each other again until 2015.

They encountered each other as adults at the very thing they won at Primanti's — a wedding. It was Wright's sister's wedding.

By 2016, Strayer and Wright were back together. They now have an 8-month-old son who Strayer refers to as their "rainbow baby" after the couple had a baby who was stillborn last August.

And while the duo may have said "no" to continuing their preteen relationship back in the day, Brianne will be saying "yes" to the dress a little sooner than expected.

"We wanted to have a Halloween-themed wedding, but we can do that when we renew our vows," Strayer said.

As of now, Strayer and Wright intend to use the all-expense paid wedding promotion this summer — an occasion that is sure to fill their hearts and their bellies.
