WWE wrestler Jimmy Uso arrested in Detroit

Detroit — A WWE wrestler was arrested Wednesday after he “assumed a fighting stance” when the car he was in was pulled over for traveling the wrong direction on a one-way street, police said.

The 10:15 p.m. incident with Jimmy Uso happened after an officer saw the driver of a Dodge Journey going the wrong way on St. Antoine near Monroe Street downtown, according to police.

Detroit police said in a statement that the male passenger “became irate, exited the vehicle, removed his jacket and shirt and assumed a fighting stance.”

The officer, the statement said, produced a “conducted energy weapon” and gave Uso, 33, verbal commands.

Police said he was transported to the Detroit Detention Center and later posted an unknown bond.

The WWE released a statement on Friday saying “Jonathan Fatu is responsible for his own personal actions.”

Jimmy Uso, who's real name is Jonathan Solofa Fatu, is a WWE tag-team wrestler alongside his brother Jey Uso. The pair are slated to wrestle Sunday at the so-called WWE Elimination Chamber match in Houston, according to the WWE's website.

It's unclear if police administered intoxication tests on Uso or his wife, who was reportedly driving the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.

Uso's wife Naomi, also a WWE Superstar, responded to the incident on Twitter, saying she and her husband were safe.

Last year, Jey Uso, whose real name is Joshua Samuel Fatu, was arrested for driving while intoxicated after a WWE event in Hidalgo, Texas. 

The brothers are part of a wrestling dynasty — their father is Solofa F. Fatu Jr., a Samoan American WWE wrestler known by the name Rikishi. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015. 

On March 9, WWE Live: Road to Wrestlemania is coming to Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
