There's another Milwaukee County Transit System hero. She pushed a car stuck on train tracks with MCTS riders
A Milwaukee County Transit System bus driver played hero again, but this time, bus riders joined in to help.
A snowstorm Tuesday slowed traffic all day, and many cars got stuck on side streets. MCTS Driver Shenika Merrill came upon a car that was stuck on the train tracks near 68th and State streets in Wauwatosa.
Surveillance footage from the bus shows Merrill saying, "Somebody needs to help get that person off the tracks. That’s very dangerous."
Merrill stopped the bus and got out to help, along with one rider. Then, one by one, more riders got off the bus to help push the car off the tracks.
The driver of the car was on her way to work at an area hospital.
MCTS shared some comments from the car driver in a press release.
“This lady, bless her heart, stopped her bus and was so worried about me," the driver said. "She gathered everyone she could and they pushed me out of the snow until I regained traction. This wonderful deed made such a great impact on me. Thank you! You are the reason I got to work today to help save lives.”
