Predators' PK Subban welcomes home girlfriend Lindsey Vonn with balloons, goat cake

NASHVILLE — P.K. Subban lives with a G.O.A.T. again.

The Nashville Predators defenseman recently welcomed home girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, whom he calls the greatest skier of all time, with a makeshift retirement party.

There was a bouquet of balloons – which wished her a happy retirement – a goat cake and a goat stuffed animal.

Vonn, who won a bronze medal Sunday in her final race at Sweden's world championships, retired because of injuries. She won four World Cup championships, a women's record 82 World Cup victories and Olympic gold. She has the highest super ranking of any skier in history.

Subban posted a video of Vonn walking through the door after an 18-hour travel day.

"That cake," she said. "That's epic."

Subban also placed a stuffed goat on the bed.

Vonn said in a Facebook post a couple of weeks ago that her body was "broken beyond repair."

"She’s won so much," Subban told The Tennessean in early February. "That’s why I think she’ll be the greatest of all time, because of what she had to go through.

"She’s been able to get injured, come back and win. Get injured, come back and win. Get injured, come back and win. That shows how great she is. Imagine if she never would have been injured how many wins she would have had."

Subban said Vonn's early plans for retirement included being in Nashville more, especially at Predators games.

"I’m sure you will (see more of her)," he said. "The moment her ski season is over it turns to Preds hockey. She watches every game she can. When she's not watching, shes watching the scoreboard.

"I'm sure she'll want to see us have a great second half and go on a long playoff run for sure."
