Senators want to open Cuban trade

A bipartisan group of Senators have reintroduced legislation that would lift Cuban embargoes.

Senators Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Mike Enzi of Wyoming and Patrick Leahy of Vermont say the Freedom to Export Act will open the door to a huge export market and represents a $2 billion opportunity for American farmers annually.

The legislation was introduced in 2015 and 2017 to eliminate legal barriers to do business with Cuba and lift travel restrictions but hasn’t made it passed a committee vote.
