Last year, we channeled the TV show Grey’s Anatomy in our pre-conference HIMSS blog post. This year, I’m bringing the message a lot closer to home.

My very Southern grandmother, Mary Lizzy Smith, was a woman of few words. As she lay in the ER with heart problems, a young resident asked her for the name of her family physician. Her reply was swift and to the point: “I haven’t lived here long enough to have a family doctor — and I don’t want that pacemaker either!” She was 89. For her, a lifetime wasn’t long enough to trust a healthcare provider or espouse healthcare technology.

Fast forward to 2019 and Citrix at HIMSS, the premier conference for healthcare IT (HIT). Rest assured, there will be a lot to say here. The IT leaders who empower everyone from family physicians, clinicians, and specialists to trauma surgeons, therapists, and various types of other healthcare workers will be out en masse. And trust, that elusive gift my grandmother bestowed upon so few, will be abundant among them. After all, more than 4.2 million caregivers use Citrix technology every day.

The First Word Is “Numbers”

Great conversations will happen everywhere on the show floor. Let’s start our dialogue with the word “numbers.” It’s important that I share a bit about the booth properties that will color your Citrix + HIMSS19 experience:

Number 2901: the Citrix Booth

Booth 2901 is designed to provide an immersive experience that will help you understand how Citrix Solutions for Healthcare can help you position your healthcare entity for the future. Subject matter experts (SMEs) will be on hand to show you how Citrix technology enables doctors and clinicians to deliver value-based patient care as they roam hospital environments or work remotely. SMEs also will be able to explain how people-centric security is embedded in the Citrix product stack to safeguard protected health information (PHI), to detect anomalies in user behavior (potential inside threats), and to discover threats from external parties.

These are some of the products you can choose to explore at Booth 2901:

You’ll also be able to discuss a number of capabilities that are important in most healthcare environments, including:

  • Streamlining clinical workflows
  • Overseeing cloud migration and management
  • Improving employee engagement
  • Securely onboarding new workers
  • Watermarking confidential images and documents
  • Administering clinician services

There’s much more than what I’ve put on my short list here. That was just a sneak peek.

There’s a great deal to see and do in the demo area. Please plan to spend some time there to discover all of what Citrix has to offer.

Booth 2901 also features a presentation theater. Citrix Ready partners, Citrix SMEs, and customers will deliver short talks each day. Presentations will start on the hour and half hour during the time that the exhibit area is open, and a schedule is available near the theater so you can identify what topics interest you.

Number 527: The Citrix Ready Partners Area

Visit this booth to find out about the host of Citrix Ready partners that have solutions optimized for healthcare environments. Before you arrive at the show, you may want to check out the Citrix Ready Marketplace for a great overview that highlights just how many partner companies are under the Citrix Ready umbrella. Then once you’ve arrived in Orlando at the booth itself, you’ll have the opportunity to talk with the 10 partners that Rubal Walia mentions in his pre-HIMSS Citrix Ready blog post. Plan to spend some time at the pods with these partner companies so they can demonstrate their products, all of which are optimized for Citrix:

You can even set up a personal meeting with one of these partners.

Number 43: The Citrix Kiosk in the Cybersecurity Command Center

Citrix also will be present at Kiosk 400-43 in the Cybersecurity Command Center, a specialty area of the conference in which you can learn about the latest cybersecurity technologies and hear about strategies for mitigating cyber threats. There are a number of different kinds of activities in which you can participate — many are even interactive and hands-on. There are also cybersecurity education sessions and presentations about hot topics. Don’t miss Citrix healthcare and security experts Christian Boucher and Victor Rodriguez, who will deliver the presentation, “Securely Delivering the Healthcare Workspace,” from 11:15 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. on Wednesday, February 13, at the Cybersecurity Theatre A.

Before you arrive at the show, you might want to take a moment to visit the sites listed below. If you favor succinct dialog, then this is the place for you. The first site briefly describes the ways in which Citrix technology plays in the healthcare sector. The second contains links to new documentation and numerous learning materials. Be sure to check out both!

If you prefer short YouTube videos, then watch this one by Sean Donahue. In less than two minutes, he covers the top five things he suggests you should see at the Citrix booth.

Citrix SMEs always like to talk about healthcare and HIMSS. Each year, we work hard to compose blog posts that cover healthcare technology issues trending in the news. This year is no different. Read these new posts:

And Now the Rest of the Story

Trust me, this is funny. Circle back to the beginning of this blog post. Remember my grandmother Mary Lizzy Smith? Both my cousin and I were named for her. The funny part is that both of our respective sets of parents got it wrong. My cousin is “Margaret Elizabeth” and I’m “Katherine Elizabeth.” None of our parents knew that my grandmother’s given name was “Lizzy” until the ink was long-since dry on our birth certificates. This is one instance in which I’m really glad she was a woman of few words.
