Boxer Carmine Tommasone proposes in ring after suffering TKO loss to Oscar Valdez

The postgame proposal is one of sports' most "Hollywood" moments. An athlete, following an exciting competition, takes what is often one of the biggest moments of their career and turns it into the biggest moment of their lives.

Except, usually, the athlete has won beforehand.

We saw a twist on the post-competition proposal Saturday night as boxer Carmine Tommasone proposed to his girlfriend in the ring following a thorough TKO loss to Oscar Valdez in a WBO featherweight title fight.

The 34-year-old — who suffered two knockdowns in the fourth round — was dropped for good by the undefeated Valdez, 28, in the seventh round of their fight in Frisco, Texas. It was Tommasone's first professional loss.

Despite the disappointing in-ring result, Tommasone will likely look back on this day with nothing but fondness as his girlfriend said "Yes."
