Snow still falling in central Pa., covering roads and causing crash on Interstate 83

Winter's brutally cold grasp isn't as cold Friday, but light snow has been falling throughout the day around southcentral Pennsylvania.

According to AccuWeather's report, "The snow will continue its journey eastward on Friday, spreading over Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Baltimore. The southern extent of the snow may also graze Washington, D.C."

This is not expected to be a blockbuster storm, but the snow has covered some roads and made travel treacherous at times throughout the day.

Interstate 83 South was down to a single lane around near mile marker 26 near the Strinestown exit in York County around 1:30 p.m. because of a crash. The county was reporting at least 10 crashes, mostly without injuries, on its 911 log as of 2:10 p.m.

Some areas of central Pennsylvania could see between a coating and 2 inches of snow. Meteorologist Craig Evanego with the National Weather Service State College said that periods of mainly light snow should begin to taper off as early as 5 p.m.

Polar Bear Plunge canceled

The 11th Annual Polar Bear Plunge in York County has been postponed from Feb. 2 to Feb. 9 due to changes in the Susquehanna River.
