Emily Blunt explains John Krasinski's shocked, over-the-top reaction to her SAG Awards win

John Krasinski couldn't contain his joy Sunday night when his wife Emily Blunt won a Screen Actors Guild Award, taking home the prize for outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role for "A Quiet Place." 

Krasinski covered his face in excitement and appeared shocked as Blunt's win was announced, hugging her and giving her a standing ovation as she took the stage for her acceptance speech. 

"I think he probably was as shocked as I was because it was very unexpected," Blunt told reporters backstage, explaining Krasinski's viral reaction to her win. "(It was) certainly not something I had planned for. I was pretty blown away."

She added that she missed her husband's extreme reaction.

"I’m also completely blind without my glasses so his face was a bit of a blur for me," she said.

Blunt gave a sweet shout-out to her husband during her speech for "A Quiet Place," in which she starred alongside Krasinski, who also wrote and directed the thriller.

"I am going to share this completely with my husband, John, because the entire experience of doing this with you has completely pierced my heart directly," she said. "Thank you for giving me the part. You would have been in major trouble if you hadn't. So you didn't really have an option, but thank you."

Backstage, Blunt talked about how the experience of filming "A Quiet Place" with Krasinski actually strengthened their relationship, despite speculation of the opposite. 

"People were like, 'You’re going to be divorced by the end of it,' when actually we were so much closer," she said.
