Flight delays at Nashville airport due to partial internet outage

Nashville International Airport is experiencing delays with several airlines Tuesday afternoon due to a partial internet outage, according to officials.

Airport staff is working to identify issues to repair but believe the incident is construction related, airport spokeswoman Shannon Sumrall said to The Tennessean.

Issues were first reported shortly after 1 p.m. CST. About two hours later, crews were onsite with repairs underway.

The estimated time for those repairs to be complete is now between 10 p.m. and midnight.

The airport is undergoing a complete overhaul of the passenger experience to it's terminal lobby, as well as building a new international arrivals facility.

The 440,000-square-foot project began early this year and is expected to take four years to complete. It's part of the broader $1.2 billion BNA Vision plan that will add parking, security lines and a new hotel, and renovate virtually every corner of the Nashville airport.

Several people impacted by the delays tweeted about the airport's partially down system.

One person tweeted that her Delta flight was boarded manually, by rows. She said names of passengers were written down on paper along with seat numbers.

Another joked, asking if airport staff tried "unplugging" and "plugging" back internet connection.
