Andy Reid took issue with refs calling Dee Ford offsides: 'Normally you're warned'

Andy Reid met with reporters on Monday morning after having some time to reflect on Sunday's crushing overtime loss to the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

And the Chiefs coach had some interesting thoughts/complaints about the key offsides call on Dee Ford that negated a Chiefs interception that would have all but ended the game and sent Kansas City to the Super Bowl.

"Normally you're warned and the coaches warned if somebody is doing that before they throw (a flag) in a game of that magnitude. But they did," Reid said. "And he didn't waste any time doing it. He didn't wait until the interception to throw it. He had his hand on his flag right from the get go and he saw it from his angle and he thought it was the call." 

So, it seems like Reid thought the refs couldn't wait to throw the flag? I'm not sure late in the fourth quarter is the time for a ref to throw out a warning, but whatever.

Plus, look at how far offsides Ford was:

With that being said, Reid also wasn't pleased, as he shouldn't be, with the roughing the passer call that went against his team when Chris Jones barely touched Brady's face mask:

That was a pretty weak call. Mahomes, meanwhile, took a much more impactful hit earlier in the game that didn't get called:

But yeah, if Dee Ford lines up onside this story doesn't exist because the Chiefs would be going to the Super Bowl. Also, fans wouldn't be saying horrible things to a different Dee Ford on Twitter.

And that has to be tough for Reid and the Chiefs to swallow.
