Ventura home ransacked by burglars, police say

A Ventura man returning home after a weekend night out noticed three men walking out of his yard with property, police say, and realized a burglary was in process.

He chased after the trio but wasn't able to catch any of the suspects, who escaped with his belongings, authorities said.

The run-in occurred around 2:20 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of Homer Avenue, according to the city of Ventura Police Department. The block is located in midtown, north of Loma Vista Road and generally northeast of Community Memorial Hospital.

When the victim went inside, he discovered his house had been ransacked and multiple items had been taken.

The victim called police about half an hour later. Multiple units responded but they weren't able to find any suspects, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Ventura Police Department at 805-339-4416.
