GENOA TWP. — A Brighton man was arrested on suspicion of robbing one bank and attempting to rob another, a Livingston County Sheriff's Department release states.

Authorities believe the man, 37, held up TCF Bank, 3857 E. Grand River Ave. in Genoa Township, on Saturday about 9 a.m. He wore a black ski mask, a black hood and blue coveralls, and told tellers he was robbing the bank.

He implied that he had a weapon but did not show a weapon, the release states.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and left on foot toward a Buffalo Wild Wings parking lot nearby, where witnesses told police he may have fled in a white Ford F-150 pick-up truck.

Witnesses later reported the suspect also had been at the Lake Trust Credit Union, 1700 W. Highland Road in Howell Township, wearing the same clothing. A credit union employee told the man to remove his mask and hood, and the man fled the scene without any cash.

Deputies found the suspect on Highland Road near Michigan Avenue at about 9:23 a.m., the release states. They stopped the vehicle and took the suspect into custody.

The man is held in Livingston County Jail on pending charges of bank robbery and attempted bank robbery.

The incident remains under investigation.
