Holcomb: broadband grant program to roll out soon

Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb says the $100 million grant program to expand broadband into rural communities will roll out in the first quarter of this year.

“It will be administered out of INDOT and OCRA- making sure that we’re not skipping over any community, any one county,” he says “I’m pleased that we’ve gotten to the point where we’re going to be able to address not just the unserved, but also the underserved areas as well.”

He tells Brownfield connectivity is important to every single Hoosier.

“I hear these stories of folks who live out in the county and they have to drive into a library parking lot, or a high school parking lot to get on Wi-Fi or go to the McDonalds or a Starbucks – if they have one so their kids can do their homework,” he says. “That’s not ideal obviously, that’s not even acceptable”

The broadband investment is part of Holcomb’s $1 billion Next Level Connections program.
