Ventura police probe shooting that injured one person Friday

Ventura police were investigating a shooting that injured one person early Friday, officials said.

Just after midnight, the Ventura Police Department received a report of a gunshot victim in the area of Mission Park, in the 200 block of E. Main Street.

Officers responded to the scene and were reportedly told by witnesses that the victim was transported to a local hospital, police officials said.

Officers traveled to the hospital and located the victim who had a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim, a 49-year-old man, was subsequently transported to a second hospital where he was treated for his injury, officials said.

Ventura police located evidence of the shooting at Mission Park, and Ventura police detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the scene.
