Maryland man stole weapons, other items from Gettysburg store, sentenced probation

Gabriel Mat Buckman-Brookshire pleaded guilty through a plea agreement to burglary. his other charges were withdrawn, according to online court documents.

He was sentenced to 24 months probation.

Buckman-Brookshire also must complete a care program, DNA test, and pay costs, fines and fees, documents state.

Gettysburg Borough Police Department issued a warrant for the arrest of a 20-year-old Maryland man after he allegedly stole more than $31,000 worth of weapons and other items from a Gettysburg business.

Gabriel Mat Buckman-Brookshire, of Woodsboro, Maryland, was charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking, criminal trespass and conspiracy to burglary, according to online court documents.

On Nov. 10, police investigated a burglary at the Gettysburg Militaria Antiques Shop, where the owner, Craig Carroll, reported $31,905 worth of weapons, knives and other assorted items were missing, according to an affidavit filed with District Judge Matthew Harvey.

The next day at about 2:30 a.m., an officer saw a green Honda Accord parked behind the shop. Buckman-Brookshire, Austin Frushour and a female juvenile were inside the vehicle.

There was also an older shotgun bandolier in plain view inside the vehicle. Police photographed the bandolier and released the three subjects from the scene, the affidavit states.

When police showed Carroll the picture of the bandolier, he confirmed that it was one of the items stolen from his store. 

On Nov. 16, police were notified that Frushour was at a police department in Maryland for an interview concerning multiple burglaries. 

Police went to the Maryland police station and interviewed Frushour, who admitted to burglarizing the Gettysburg Militaria Antiques Shop with Buckman-Brookshire, while a juvenile female stayed in the car, the affidavit states.

Frushour told police Buckman-Brookshire said he needed some quick money. He said Buckman-Brookshire picked him up in the green Honda, and they drove to Gettysburg.

He also said Buckman-Brookshire took $140 from the cash register along with weapons and other items. Frushour said he took knives and other items as well, police said in the affidavit.

Frushour also told police that they were going to burglarize the shop again until police officers stopped them on Nov. 11.

Detectives in Maryland interviewed Buckman-Brookshire on Nov. 19. He admitted to taking two double barreled shotguns and a bag with unknown items in it, police said in the affidavit.

Buckman-Brookshire also said that Frushour was in the shop for about 20 minutes, and he was only in the shop for about five minutes.

There is a warrant issued for Buckman-Brookshire's arrest, and he is awaiting a preliminary hearing, documents state. 

Charges were not filed against Frushour.
