Acting city manager of Taneytown, Jim Wieprecht, told the Carroll County Times that they do not know the full nature of the situation, but chief William Tyler and another unidentified officer were placed on leave after the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives executed the warrant.

The FBI went to the police department for "court authorized law enforcement activity," and they also made stops in Fairfield for similar activity.
