Two men arrested on suspicion of shoplifting alcohol in Simi Valley

Simi Valley police arrested two men suspected of shoplifting alcohol from a convenience store on Thursday night, authorities said.

A loss prevention officer at CVS Pharmacy, 3935 Cochran St., contacted police at 5 p.m., police said.

The officer reported witnessing two men stealing alcohol from the store by placing bottles into a backpack one of them was wearing, Simi police said. The officer watched the suspects leave the store without paying for the alcohol, enter a vehicle and leave the area, authorities said.

Officers responding to the crime found the vehicle a short distance from the store and performed a traffic stop. Authorities made contact with the two occupants, identified as David McCammon, 42, and Raymond Hester, 38, both of Los Angeles.

A search of the vehicle revealed the stolen liquor bottles, police said. Further investigation into the suspects revealed McCammon was on parole for burglary and Hester had an outstanding warrant for a previous burglary, according to authorities.

McCammon and Hester were arrested on suspicion of felony commercial shoplifting and conspiracy to commit a crime. Hester was also booked on an outstanding burglary warrant. Both were booked into county jail.
