A Milwaukee used car dealership fraudulently reduced the mileage and altered the titles on at least 136 vehicles that were subsequently sold to unsuspecting customers, the state Department of Transportation said.

The motor vehicle wholesaler license for Cuzco Auto Mart was revoked after the Department of Administration’s division of hearings and appeals found that the dealership was also selling vehicles without a retail dealer license, according to a news release from the DOT.

An investigation by the DOT determined that the odometer tampering resulted in a total reduction of more than 9 million miles, according to the release.

On Thursday, a DOT official said the dealership had already surrendered its license.
