Mass. elementary school builds portrait of Tom Brady, Bill Belichick in Lego

Over the last eight seasons, Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots have turned reaching the AFC championship game into an art form.

Now, thanks to some help from Brown Elementary School in Peabody, Massachusetts, the star quarterback and his mastermind coach have themselves been turned into a work of art.

Artist Rob Surette brought his project to the school, where about 400 students and teachers helped bring it to life. However, he told CBS Local in Boston that no one who knew what the end result was going to be.

“I told the kids, this is a marathon of a project. I’m not going to tell you what it is, but you can guess. So half the fun is now the kids guessing,” he said.

The finished product, constructed out of 20,000 double-sided Lego blocks, revealed a portrait of Brady or Belichick, depending on the angle of the viewer.

“The whole point of the project is to empower the kids," he said. "I want them to feel inspired. I want them to feel motivated, to chase after their dreams.”

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick have reached the AFC title game each of the past eight seasons, winning it four times.

There's now a pretty good chance that most of those students are dreaming of a Patriots victory against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday and a third consecutive berth in the Super Bowl.
